DC’s Summer Youth Employment Program

DGEFCU complements the first job experience by providing youth with no cost access to their electronic paychecks, teaching them about money management, and encouraging saving.

Free Tax Return Preparation

DGEFCU offers free tax preparation services at its branch locations each year during tax season (typically January to mid-April). DGEFCU’s volunteer tax preparers are certified and supported by the Internal Revenue Services’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Through our participation in the IRS’ VITA Program, we offer free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $49,000 and below) people, including free electronic filing. Watch our newsletter and website at the beginning of each year for additional information.

College Scholarships

High school seniors who are members of DGEFCU are eligible to apply for a college scholarship. Every year in early spring, the Credit Union Foundation of MD & DC sponsors the annual essay and video competition awarding over $10,000 to credit union members from all over the region. Winners can use the funds for any scholastic pursuit. Visit www.CUFound.org for announcements for next year’s competition.
